2018’s Awesome Ugly Holiday Sweater/Open Mic Event

ย ย Wearing Our Creativity … Literally on Our Sleeves!

By: Loni Cameron

An afternoon of laughs and creativity filled this yearโ€™s WCYR Holiday Party. Dressed in ugly Christmas sweaters and smiles, writers mixed and mingled, broke some ice, and played games. We met new people and caught up with old friends. It was an afternoon of having fun and getting to know each other better.

After a tasty hot lunch, and a cookie or two, it was time to get the games started. We flexed our creative muscles and interpersonal skills. We learned that ties and heels are hard to find. We exchanged used books and raffled off some prizes. One of those prizes was a ticket to our first annual York Writers Conference. Congratulations Carol! Then came the big event, the Ugly Sweater Contest! The winner wasโ€ฆโ€ฆME! This only serves to reinforce my love of homemade creativity. The wild card prize went to Nancy Kelly, and the funniest sweater prize to Nanci Pattenden. The winners of our Bad Poetry Ice Breaker were Val Tobin and Sheila Horne.

Thanks to everyone who came out, brought books, and sharedย in the joy of the holidays.
