The Genesis of Stories: Idea Mining

One of the most common questions asked of writers is: “Where do your story ideas come from?”  This workshop aims to answer this question and will provide you with the background, tools and ongoing options that will help you with the genesis of story creation. You will learn tips not only about places to find ideas, but also how to harness and keep track of them.

This members-only  workshop will examine the history of ideas, the importance of mental space in writing, how to use social media appropriately to find ideas and locate websites that are a continuous source of fodder.  We will discuss why it is important to let ideas percolate and how to use the M.I.C.E. quotient to figure out the kind of story you want to write and how to pinpoint what can help bring it to life.

Bio M.C. Perron

M.C. is a writer whose imagination is always running wild. She has a stash of ideas for future stories even though she knows she will never have enough time to write them all. The next best option is to share what has worked for her and help others create their own stash. She lives with her husband and a grumble of pugs and holds a B.Sc. in anthropology from the Université de Montréal. Her interests lie in science-fiction and fantasy, horror, history, science, and everything in between.
