Rescheduled Event (from April 15th, 2018, cancelled due to inclement weather)
Please note the change of venue. We will be at the Ray Twinney Recreation Complex (Lounge 1).
As the number of published books grows exponentially, it becomes increasingly important to hook readers fast. This workshop will teach you how to find the best starting point for your story, then turn it into a killer first chapter that’ll leave readers—or agents and editors—eager for more.
Bring the first 2-3 pages of your work-in-progress for a chance to have Kelley critique it. Please be ready to read your work in front of the group if you wish to participate. Depending on the number of participants, there may not be time to read everyone’s opening.
Workshop will be held at the Ray Twinney Recreation Complex (Lounge 1) in Newmarket on Saturday, June 30th, 2018 from 1:00pm – 4:00pm.
Kelley Armstrong has been telling stories since before she could write. Her earliest written efforts were disastrous. If asked for a story about girls and dolls, hers would invariably feature undead girls and evil dolls, much to her teachers’ dismay. Today, she continues to spin tales of ghosts and demons and werewolves, while safely locked away in her basement writing dungeon. She lives in southwestern Ontario with her husband, kids and far too many pets.
