Gearing Up For the York Writers Conference: With Alyxandra Harvey

Say Hello to Alyxandra Harvey!

The afternoon of the York Writers Conference offers us an opportunity to learn about mixing genres with author Alyxandra Harvey. Alyxandra will show writers how to shrug off the traditional structures of genre and break the rules. Where is the line? How much blending is too much? Alyxandra will help authors get to know what works and how far to push. If you are thinking of blending two (or three or more!) genres in your story, Alyxandra will discuss which genres lend themselves to blending more easily and to which elements a writer should remain true. Writers will learn tips and tricks for maintaining balance in genre blending and how to create flare with a sprinkling of genre reach.

Alyxandra Harvey is the author of The Witches of London, The Drake Chronicles and Haunting Violet. She lives in an old stone house with a few good-mannered ghosts. Alyxandra loves medieval dresses and has been accused of being born in the wrong century. This may be mostly true, except that she also loves running water, womenโ€™s rights, and ice cream. Alyxandra lives with her husband and their two dogs. She likes books, vanilla tea, and tattoos. She is often fueled by literary rage.
