Let Eloquence But Speak: a presentation by Mark McAlister
April 21 @ 9:30 am – 11:30 am

“When I met poet Langford Dixon in the 1970s, he opened my heart to the world of poetry and enchanted me with his wonderful speaking voice. Today, I am an eager explorer of contemporary poetry, but I sorely miss Langford’s spirit.”
Near the end of his life, Langford published a historical anthology of Canadian poetry, Let Eloquence But Speak.
In this presentation, Mark McAlister recites some of the highlights and invites conversation:
- How does this poetry “speak” to you?
- Does it still have meaning in these postmodern times?
Attend this connecting community event at the Richmond Hill Central Library – Room A, on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at 9:45 a.m.
