About Loni Cameron

Diving deep into imagination, I pull out whatever wriggling thing I can get my hands on and craft it into a story. I have found myself in the world of speculative fiction, recently exploring the world of gothic fiction, while also dabbling in science fiction. I look forward to seeing where my worlds and words take me.
A Conversation with Loni Cameron
We sat down with Loni Cameron to discuss her writing journey, creative process, and what inspires her stories. Get an inside look at her experiences and learn valuable insights from a fellow writer in our community.
Do you have a current work in progress? Can you tell us a bit about it?
I have a gothic novel that I constantly feel is “almost ready”, but also “needs more work”. In one sentence, my novel is about: A woman lost in the mundane world finds herself drawn into darkness and conspiracy, where her hero is not who she thinks he is, and she must quickly learn to survive.
Why do you write?
I write so the voices and visions in my mind have somewhere to go.
What do you think are must-have tools for writers?
A pen/pencil, paper/notebook, and time. You could have a fancy room, all the tea you could want, pillows and blankets and soothing music, but if you don’t have something to write with, something to write on, and time, especially time, you’re not going to get anything done. Time is the most valuable thing in our lives. It’s limited, and we always feel like we need more. Even if you can only write for 15 minutes a day, it’s better than nothing. Take those minutes, those fleeting moments, and make the best of them.
