For the Newmarket Freeflow Writers’ Circle, it’s the words that matter.

There is no website and we don’t have a social media presence. We’re
people whose love of exploring with words have brought us together over
the past twenty years. All genres are welcome, from memoir to poetry to
fantasy/sci-fi. We write, we listen, and we share the beauty of the raw
pieces written in the two hours we’re together.

Freeflow sessions adhere to the AWA method and were inspired by Barbara
Turner-Vesselago’s book
, Freefall into Fiction: Finding Form. We share timed
prompts and write what comes up. Everything is treated as fiction (whether
or not it actually is). “What happens in Freeflow stays in Freeflow”. Members
take turns leading the group, supplying prompts and guiding our time
together.

New members are recruited by word of mouth and are welcome to attend
one session before committing to a modest annual fee that helps cover
ZOOM costs from September to June. Since the pandemic, evenings at
Taylor Funeral Home in Newmarket have transformed into twice monthly
evening ZOOM meetings.

The Freeflow ZOOM room is a safe space where members can practice
spontaneous, intuitive writing and receive strength-based feedback in a
supportive environment.
