About Gary D. McGugan

I’ve always liked to read and tell stories, but I was also a captive of the corporate world for more than forty years. Anyone who has lived at the senior level of a large company knows there’s little time for serious writing, and it took retirement from that world to launch a new pursuit. My first book was a work of non-fiction, co-authored with my friend Jeff Allen. That positive experience taught me that writing a book is undoubtedly a challenge, but it’s not insurmountable! So, my life experiences serve as a foundation for entertaining suspense thrillers, using the backdrop of a large, multinational corporation for my tales of intrigue. Since my 2016 debut story, “Three Weeks Less a Day”, I’ve released a new novel each year, and my eighth, “When Power Fails”, is now available. My corporate career provided a wealth of insight into varied situations. I’ve worked in supermarkets, sold appliances, distributed motorcycles, launched an automobile dealer network, and provided financing and consulting to help businesses grow. Every industry was different. Every company had its distinctive culture and character, but all were units of large corporations with operations around the globe. Travel has always been a significant component of my roles. I had the pleasure of visiting almost every city, town, village, and hamlet in Canada while leading sales and marketing activities for the motorcycle division before starting the automobile business of Suzuki Motor Company’s Canadian subsidiary. My job with a subsidiary of ITT took me to most of the states in the US.
