Despite his self-professed label as an accidental author, Jasveer’s literary prowess has garnered widespread acclaim, punctuated by a string of accolades and recognition. His magnum opus, The Hunter Genesis – Book 1, found its place among the coveted list of summer must-reads by esteemed platforms like ANI Asia, Jio News, and Zee5. Jasveer loves the outdoors and is a big movie buff, which is quite evident given the use of quotes and songs from movies at strategic places in all his books. He is an avid observer of his surroundings and uses characters and instances from everyday situations for his stories.
A Conversation with Jasveer Singh Dangi
We sat down with Jasveer Singh Dangi to discuss his writing journey, creative process, and what inspires his stories. Get an inside look at his experiences and learn valuable insights from a fellow writer in our community.
Which writers inspire you and why?
Because of attention related issues, I had never read a book before I became an author. Apart from what I studied in college, I was never drawn to novels or literature of any kind. So, when it was suggested that I should publish my journal (which became my first book – Version One and a Half) I picked up a book, just to get the feel of how a book actually looked like. This was One Indian Girl by an Indian author, Chetan Bhagat. I read a couple of other books after this but this book has always stayed with me and Chetan’s writing style is my biggest inspiration.
What is your favourite genre in which to write and why?
I have written three biographies, in fact, my first book was my own biography but fiction (especially action-adventure, thriller, mystery, sci-fi and fantasy) is what really gets me going. The kick I get while creating my own characters, situations, and worlds, is what attracts me to the fiction genre the most. It lets me fly my imagination and be lost in a fantasy world where everything I can imagine is possible.
Do you have a current work in progress? Can you tell us a bit about it?
The Hunter series book 3 is in the works, and I am also working on four short stories, which might come out as a single book, an anthology, or (If an idea clicks) one or more of them might be published as stand alone books.
