Writing Memoirs

Taught by WCYR member Carol Teal

Don’t miss the opportunity to learn about writing your memoir. We all have stories to tell. Whether you already have a memoir in progress or you’ve ever dreamed of writing one, this course will help you get it on the page.

Course Code: ARTS0056

This course is welcome to all levels. Anyone can take these courses if interested. Beginner-level instruction will be provided for basic skills while more advanced users can work on more complex projects with instructor assistance.

You are the only person who can tell your unique stories. Whether you want to leave a legacy memoir for your family and friends or hope to gain a broader audience through publishing, this course can help you move towards your goals. Focusing on writing stories from life and memories, explore and develop your writing craft as you gain writing skills. Class discussions will centre around structure, themes, and engaging readers. There will be daily time for writing from elicited prompts, memory, or individual projects with one-on-one consultation with the instructor. Fresh writing will be shared with opportunities to receive and give feedback.

This course will run from 26-30 May 2025 at Fleming College’s Haliburton Campus in Haliburton, Ontario.
