Special Guests

Registration opens April 1st, 2021

The WCYR is proud to announce our second writers’ conference. This weekend event will bring together writers from all over York Region and beyond, along with guest speakers, editors, and publishers.

This year, our illustrious Keynote Speaker is the famed thriller writer Andrew Pyper. He will be speaking at the conference on Saturday over our extended lunch break. So pour yourself a glass of bubbly, slide your charcuterie board over beside the computer, relax and take it all in.

Andrew Pyper is the multiple award winning author of ten novels, most recently The Residence, which is being developed as a hybrid documentary/fiction series with Skybound Entertainment and Radical Media, with Pyper acting as Executive Producer.
Among his previous novels, The Demonologist was the winner of the International Thriller Writers Award. His first novel, Lost Girls, was a New York Times Notable Book of the Year, and appeared on both the New York Times and Times (UK) bestseller lists. He lives in Toronto.

Back by popular demand, we’d like to welcome Terry Fallis as the conference’s Honorary Patron. Terry will be giving the Opening Address on Friday evening in order to welcome all of our attendees, volunteers, and speakers.

A two-time winner of the Stephen Leacock Medal for Humour, Terry Fallis is the award-winning author of seven national bestsellers, including his most recent, Albatross (2019), all published by McClelland & Stewart (M&S).
Terry has written for many publications including Maclean’s, Canadian Geographic, Reader’s Digest, Toronto Life, the Globe and Mail, the National Post, and the Toronto Star.
Terry is a sought-after speaker, sits on a number of boards, and lives in Toronto with his wife and two sons.
