Revise to Write with Kim McDougall

ย

Rise and Revise Again!

By Loni Cameron

This past Thursday was the third of our member-led workshops. Kim McDougall took us on a journey through the process she created for revising her work. Though she was challenged by some technical issues at the beginning of her presentation, Kim kept our attention and moved forward like a true professional. Her engaging personality, jokes, sarcasm, and wealth of knowledge kept me rapt. She used interesting examples from popular stories like The Hunger Games and Star Wars. There was so much information to share. Kimโ€™s descriptions of her experiences with revising was enriching and energizing. We could feel Kimโ€™s great energy and love of writing.

By learning how to revise, we learn more about the craft of writing and hopefully with cleaner first drafts. Iโ€™m looking forward to applying all that we learned and learning even more. I hope that after attending this workshop, I can tackle my manuscripts and polish them up so they donโ€™t end up languishing in the bottom of a drawer!
