Are you interested in writing? Looking for a place to hone your writing craft
and connect with other writers and readers? Do you live in the Richmond
Hill area? Richmond Hill Public Library (RHPL) has just the thing for you!

RHPL offers a variety of opportunities and events catering to writers,
readers, and everyone in between. In addition to dozens of programs each
month (including monthly writing workshops and book clubs), they’ve also
got a curated list of writing resources for practicing and aspiring writers.

Writing Circle

This informal, monthly gathering started two years ago and is a huge hit!
Writers say this program is very helpful to hone their craft and that they’ve
built a community among like-minded people. New members and all skill
levels are always welcome to join. Share your work, practice writing, and
gain feedback in an informal setting. There’s no pressure and no stress;
everyone is there to learn and grow together. This is a free, drop-in
program, so no registration is required.

Writers’ Workshops

Are you looking for specific suggestions to improve your writing? Are you
interested in learning more about writing? Every month, the Library invites a
guest speaker on a particular topic relating to writing. Come and learn
something new, meet fellow writers, and enjoy building community. This
December, we are featuring Roderick Turner, and in January, Erika MacNeil
will present. Come join the fun, learn new things, and meet your fellow
writers.

Teen Writing Circle

Are you a teen looking for a writing group? Every month, RHPL hosts a Teen
Writing Circle for ages 13-17. Share your work, practice your writing, and
receive feedback from your peers in a welcoming and informal setting. Give
and receive feedback on your unique writing journeys. Come meet the
group and get to know your peers during this free program.

Book Clubs

RHPL offers several book clubs for various ages where you can have
engaging conversations with fellow book lovers. They also have a nontraditional book club that’s often hosted at a local restaurant or bar! You can bring your own book, talk about books you love, and find some new ones to try.

Book clubs are free, but you must register online.

Writing Inspiration, Creativity & Techniques (Book List)

The Library has also put together a great book list filled with resources that
offer unique solutions, writing challenges, and suggestions about new
creative approaches that you may find helpful.
