The conference starts Friday with a Virtual Cocktail Party at 7:30pm. Opening remarks by Honorary Patron Terry Fallis.

The WCYR is proud to announce our second writers’ conference. This online event will bring together writers from all over York Region and… dare we say it… the world! Join our guest speakers, editors, and publishers from hither and yon to make the best of social distancing as we approach the end of this challenging time in history. h

Friday Evening ~ Opening Address by Honorary Patron, Announce Winner of Short Story Contests, Virtual Cocktail Hour!

Saturday ~ Welcome/Orientation, 2 Speakers @ 1.5 hrs each, Luncheon Keynote, 2 Speakers @ 1.5 hrs each, Open Mic.

Sunday ~ 2 Speakers @ 1.5 hrs each, Networking Lunch, 2 Speakers, Closing Ceremonies including the announcement of the Glimpses Writing Contests.

Attendees will be able to choose from a variety of workshops.  We’re adding more and more speakers each week and expanding on details for their hour and a half workshops.

We have Sacha Black (all the way from the United Kingdom), Michelle Fox (from far-flung Ohio, USA), Patti M. Hall (our local northern celebrity from Bradford, Ontario), Marilyn Kleiber (out west of T.O. near Elora), Maria Mutch (reaching out to us from Rhode Island, USA), Ruth E. Walker (from our beloved Writescape), Derek Newman-Stille (PhD & Trent Professor extraordinaire), and Rob Firing (of the Transatlantic Agency)!

Lastly, we are swapping out the Blue Pencil Sessions from 2019 for the BDO Writing Contests with 4 divisions! All genres permitted except erotica. The top 3 entries in each division will win a monetary prize.
