Description
In this workshop, writers will learn a backward design approach to storytelling by starting with the climax, shaping each major plot point, character choice, and turning point along the way.
Participants will explore how a story’s ending can serve as the foundation for everything that comes before it, how to identify the thematic core of their story, define the goals and motivations of both major and supporting characters, and map the internal and external conflicts that drive each character toward a meaningful resolution. This session also examines how character traits, relationships, and key events should earn their place by contributing to the story’s direction and ending.
By working backward from the climax, participants will learn how to create stories with a framework that connects character arcs, conflict, theme, and plot into a cohesive narrative with strong pacing, clear purpose, and an ending that feels both surprising and earned.
Whether you’re planning a novel from scratch or struggling with a manuscript that has lost its direction, this workshop offers practical tools for designing stories in which every scene, character, and decision moves the narrative toward a compelling conclusion.
